The highlight of the festive year around the 1,100th birthday of St. Wolfgang (924 - 2024) is the world premiere of the musical theater Wolf - Das Mystical on the new Salzkammergut lake stage in Ried.

The material for the full-length musical theater is based on the Wolfgang legend, according to which Bishop Wolfgang built a church on Lake Abersee - today's Wolfgangsee - with the help of the devil. It explores the big questions of human existence and sheds light on the life and work of St. Wolfgang.

The Mystical aims to entertain and at the same time promote respect for life by showing St. Wolfgang's inner conflict between hedonism and contemplation. Wolfgang is not shown as a superhero, but as a seeker. The evening promises a wealth of poetry and humor.

The libretto was written by the author Franzobel. The music is by composer Gerd Herrmann Ortler.

Wolf - The Mystical is performed by around 30 actresses and musicians. They create a world of mystical theater and entertaining musicals at Lake Wolfgangsee - a real mystical!

The unique stage setting on the lake, framed by an arrival and departure by boat, will inspire the audience just as much as the play with its dramatic staging, an impressive orchestra and impressive choreography.

The premiere will take place on May 23, 2024.
